Peaceful Happenings

I continue to be pleasantly surprised by the steady traffic of visitors to the store.  I really thought February would be very slow - but alas everyone has battled the cold and the wind to come in.  We have had so many events and classes with a good group of folks.  Really makes a dreary month not so dreary - in fact warm and fun!  We are super excited for the coming events!  As the Academies grow with more classes, the Knit for Food Knit-a-thon is coming, and more folks join us as the beach begins to open up,  we are super excited to see everyone and make even more!

Join us for the Knit for Food Knit-a-long!  We will be gathering in the store throughout the day!  Some of us will be there for the entire 12 hours!  Our goal is to raise $5000 as a team!  You do not have to knit for the entire 12 hours - you can if you want, but we will join our hours as a team.  I did this for the past 2 years and it is really fun.  We will be remotely connected to the main knit-a-long and will be able to participate with all the special guests including Patty Lyons!  You can work on one of your projects or we can choose a knit-a-long for the event - or we can do both.  Let me know your thoughts!
Peaceful Making Society

We would like to get our floor loom classes started.  We will be offering a series of classes that will result in a lovely scarf.  This series will be 4 - 2 hour classes with additional weaving time to finish your projects.  We will be doing these classes in groups of 4 and will coordinate actual class time so that they work with your schedules.
We will be offering open weaving next Saturday afternoon.  You can come in and reserve a loom and weave.  We do require weaving experience, though Inger will be available during this time.  You can reserve the loom for up to 2 weeks in order to finish your project.  All work must be done in the store!  Look forward to seeing you!

  • Double Slippers - Liv Stangeland - Sandnes Garn Slippers - love how these came out!  They look like I bought them.  I tried some gel to make little non-slip buttons, but they are already falling off.  I think I would go with sewing on or ironing on some kind of non-slip fabric on the ball of the foot and heel.  I also just don’t mind them plain - it’s like wearing socks.  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nr-3-doble-tfler

Patterns of Interest
Camisole No 9 - My Favorite Things Knitware - it’s time - Spring is coming…time to start those warm weather knits - or - just start thinking about them! You know this is a Knitting for Olive special!  Both Cotton Merino and Pure Silk!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/camisole-no-9
Alpine Boom - Caitlin Hunter - Nice Spring knit - I wanted to do the long sleeve, but I’m a little late for that! I would love to do this in Spin Cycle Dyed in the wool and Farmer’s Daughter Fiber Foxy Lady Fingering.  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/alpine-bloom
Fiorellino - Isabell Kraemer - For those of you who loved ( or didn’t) the Ranunculus - this is a lovely patterned round yolk.  I am definitely going to do this one in Knitting for Olive pure silk, or HedgeHog Fibers Skinny Singles - or maybe La Bien Aimee Twist Nouveau…so many choices!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fiorellino-2
Tolsta Tee - Rebecca Clow -  My favorite spring/summer pattern.  So many different ways to knit this in one pattern.  I want a few more basic spring/summer tee’s and this is the pattern!  Easy and fast!  I would do this in Knitting for Olive Pure Silk held double, or Sandnes Garn Line!  I would also do one for spring in Morris in stripes!  So many choices! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tolsta-tee
Cuore Tee - Ksenia Naidyon - beautiful textured Tee - Definitely a good use for Ito Rakuda! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cuore-tee
No Sweat Shirt - Park Williams - I love a good  hoodie pattern!  I would love to do this in Koma by Noro!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/no-sweat-shirt
Leichtmatrose - Anke Telschow - This would be lovely in Noro Sonata Shima.  You could skip the striping :) just knit away.  Great spring sweater! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/leichtmatrose
Road Tripper - Ozetta - I love Ozetta patterns - this would be great in Queen City Latta!  I can’t wait to start this one! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/roadtripper-tee
