Peaceful Making Happenings

Wow, wow, wow..Sorry for the delay! We have so many subscribers we had to change email services!  Just when you thought things were calming down…We are just going to have a very busy month!  Trunk shows, Friendsgiving, Black Friday, knitting machines, Thanksgiving Class weekend - and some on again-off again travel!  Tammy and I will be braving the airspace and heading to Portland, Oregon to attend the Sacred Sheep Festival and attend Andrea Mowry’s steeking class.  We will take lots of pictures and report back!
Something tells me, we just like to be busy!

New Things in the Store Week

Have you seen the Woolfolk Trunk Show?  Have you seen the Woolfolk wall?  If not, you are seriously missing out!  Beautiful, rich colors.  Beautifully soft and luxurious!  The Trunk Show is up on the mannequins - I will do a video tomorrow!
`
We have all the bags from Rhinebeck up as well as the new felt bags, bowls, dog toys, scissor holders, and needle holders. We brought back so many wonderful things from Rhinebeck for you to shop as if you were there!  They will be in the store and on the web!  We have canvas bags, unique mohair yarn, fiber and all kinds of trinkets!  It’s just like you made the trip without the crowds!
Friendsgiving this week.  We moved it back to Wednesday again due to travel and some friends' availability.  Sign up online on the website https://peacefulmaking.com/products/friendsgiving-potluck or reach out to Jenna to sign up.  We will be knitting hats on the circular machines if you’re interested.  Peaceful Making will be donating the hats to the community and supplying the yarn.
We will be moving into the world of knitting machines.  I have several flat bed knitting machines and my friend and knitting machine expert Stephen is coming 11/30-12/2 to help put all the machines together and possibly do a class on the sock machines.  If this is something that is interesting to you - drop an email to info@peacefulmaking.com and we will put you on the list for a class - or just some experimental time with the machines!
We are still on the look out for our Hedgehog Fibre shipment.  It should be here in the next day or so!
On a simpler note - I got some simple vinyl bags in - you ask and we deliver :)

Inger will be in store Thursday afternoon for open spinning!  Bring your wheel - any kind - or use one of ours.  No experience required!  It will be a super fun time to catch up with folks, practice spinning, get more experience and learn more!  I have been spinning on a wheel for a few weeks now and I am doing well!  It is super fun and I cannot wait to spin enough yarn for a sweater! Inger is a wonderful teacher!

New Patterns and Present knitting

My Favorite YouTube Making this Week

Danish Musings - I continue to love watching Helle whether it is watching her travels or showing her knitting projects.  So calm and comforting.  I also like how she takes on yarn substitution. Continues to be my favorite! https://youtu.be/LjjDiM-CSgs?si=EP43uEn_EcWxAyO5
A Homespun House - I know I have been continually putting this one on the list.  I just love her choices and I really like watching her in her dye studio.  As we open ours - this is very fun to watch! https://youtu.be/j-Q0Hco0QRE?si=2gSy4PdURrHx9SJl
Lovely Day Knits - Yes a new video!  I was curious about what she had to say about the Rosie sweater as that is what I really want on my needles.  Her approach to the review of the pattern is spot on.  I am very excited to get this on my needles too! https://youtu.be/jYtSFxVjh6M?si=Ug-CG_ZDey00yPGz
Icelandic Textile Center - This video drew me in as we are getting ready to get our first tour to Iceland planning sessions started.  Made me want to jump on the plane - which as you all know I’m willing to do at a moment's notice :) https://youtu.be/LHGbwoaE9G8?si=YPyC2OFujBgnFMyH
Creabea Knitting Podcast  - Well Rebecca wins my favorite designer! Why, you ask?  She bundles the patterns that are similar in pattern, yet different garments - like grouping the cardigans, vests and pull overs together. Buy the pattern, get them all.  How refreshing! https://youtu.be/j3urqpuPa9g?si=YRJmMAa5NyRxupF7
Stitches Past Five - You know I’ve been searching for lovely gift making patterns!  I loved this one!  https://youtu.be/k57AlIX15RA?si=ycdtMC2nLSB0WnV6

Helping the Community

Later this week you will see an a few more announcements about the following:
Friendsgiving Charity Raffle, Thanksgiving Weekend Charity Raffle and the Christmas Charity Raffle.  All proceeds from the raffle will be given to support those in need of food during the holiday season (through the food banks).  We will be raffling off a Hedgehog Fibres Advent Calendars and Woobles Advent Calendars.
We are sponsoring the Wanchese Christmas Celebration.  Jenna will be marching in the parade and possibly spinning her flag (she is a color guard baby).  Anyone interested in marching with her (families are welcome) please email us at info@peacefulmaking.com.  Everyone who marches will be automatically entered in the Thanksgiving and Christmas Raffle!
We also have a donation box in the store for Room in the Inn for donations of clothing, blankets, books or gift cards.
We also have a donation box for pantry food.  Please make sure you check the expiration date on the food and that everything is shelf stable.  We will be taking the food to the local food bank.
We will be making hats to donate in the store.  If you would like to make a hat with us (we will be using the circular machines) let us know at info@peacefulmaking.com.  Peaceful Making will be donating the yarn for this effort!  We will be teaching folks to make hats during Friendsgiving.  Let us know if you’d like to join us!

Wrap up

I want to thank everyone for all your patience and help as we make our way through our first big inventory event.  Once in a while, we just need to turn everything upside down and put it back together.  Counting is a fact of life in retail - as it is in knitting :).  So thanks again for being patient with the mess of it all!
During these hard times, especially as we move into the holiday season,  if you have any extra clothes, blankets, books or pantry items - please consider bringing them in to the donation boxes.  Your generosity is very much appreciated!
Keep up to date on www.peacefulmaking.com , Instagram, and Facebook!  New classes, schedules, products, and other information.  Reach out by text or phone or messenger!  Peaceful making all!  Look forward to seeing you all this week!
