Peaceful Happening
As we move closer to Christmas and the year comes to an end, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you.  I cannot  express just how grateful I am for all the love and support this community has given us.  We appreciate all of you who have made us your local yarn store, whether you live here in the Outer Banks, visit us here at the beach, or just visit us online.  This support is what allows our brick and mortar store to exist, and we appreciate it.  We have now been open for six months, and we are so happy to be a part of this wonderful community! We hope we are supporting you as well!  Let us know if we are bringing you the yarns, fiber, equipment, and supplies that keep you creating!  More importantly we hope we are giving you a community place to come together and continue to grow all aspects of fiber arts!  Once again,  we appreciate you, welcome you, and look forward to seeing you even more next year!

We are very excited to announce the Peaceful Maker’s Society.  This program is intended to honor our makers in our community.  We would like to display our makers' finished projects that have been made using Peaceful Making products.  Whether it is made using our fibers or equipment we would like to honor you by displaying your creations both in store, in the newsletter, and online in our Peaceful Makers community page.   We will have a Peaceful Maker’s Society page on Facebook (cross posted on Instagram) where you can post your makes and we will choose the makes we will display in store.  We ask that you add the pattern (with a #), designer (with an @) and the yarn maker with (with an @) and the name of the yarn (with a #) and the location of peaceful making and link to our website.  We will have a free Community posting class (and video on the website) for you to watch to learn how to post.  For those of you who are chosen to display in store and featured in the newsletter,  we will give you a $50 gift certificate for displaying your make for 30 days. We are excited to get started with this program!
New Things in the Store Week
Very exciting week in the store!  We received the Dreaming Robots e-wheels this week and immediately 2 sold!  Amazing.  These are cute, light weight e-wheels for spinning.  Come check them out!
After much work - and travel - we have received our initial shipment of Spin Cycle!  Beautiful colors!  We will receive our complete order in a few months.  Very excited to be carrying this yarn!

We heard you and we acted!  We ordered and received more bulky yarn!  We ordered Sandnes Garn Fritidsgarn and Quince Puffin.  We are also excited to tell you that both of these yarns can be used to make felted slippers like the Sailor Slippers!  I’m casting mine on today and hope we can do a knit along in January!
We had an update of needles and will continue to update them!  We heard some of you wanted wooden double pointed and more sizes of double pointed in 5” and we have listened. Check out the needle wall for all of these new needles.  If you need anything we don’t carry, please ask and we will work on getting it for you!
We added more crochet sets to the inventory!  The sets are very economical and cute!  See the displays if you come in!
Yes,  if you can believe it, we received our third Woolfolk update.  We received their new Fleck Bulky and more Flette Bulky.  Bulky seems to be the new thing!  See my mittens for an example of both of these lovely soft bulky yarns!

We have some interesting knitting support items in from Japan.  Notebooks and calendars, covers for them, and pen clips to keep you pen on your journal or calendar.  Super cute, I didn’t get too many - just wanted to try them out.  I have one in my bag - we shall see….
Weaving and Spinning
Thursday Open spin is so wonderful.  Great place to enjoy other’s company while spinning.  This week we did some drop spinning and wheel spinning.  We will take a break for the holidays, and will be back for Open Spin on January 8, 2026!

THEY ARE HERE!  Dreaming Robots e-wheels.  These are really nice 3d printed e-wheels that are very affordable.  We are carrying the Nano 2.1  and the EEW 6.1.   The Nano is $139 and the EEW6.1 will be $299.  These are both light weight and very portable - and more importantly a very affordable spinning option!
Classes and New Events -
We have finally put the schedule for the Making academy (yes we changed the name to make one academy instead of so many!).  The classes and other events are on this calendar https://peacefulmaking.com/pages/calendar?_pos=1&_psq=calendar&_ss=e&_v=1.0.  The knitting classes will be twice a week.  Thursday at 6:30 will be a Skill’s Tune Up class.  You will need to already know how to knit for this class.  It will be an hour to learn or sharpen a skill.  Our first class will be Demystifying Ravelry.  See the calendar for the class list for the next 6 or so months.  We will also have a beginners class on Sundays from 1- 3.  We will have a series of classes that will move the student to becoming a knitter. Check out the calendar! Classes can be purchased individually by the hour,  by the month or a yearly membership that includes all events, classes, and equipment used in the store for a year.  Here is the price schedule:
Individual classes by the hour:  $10 per hour.
Monthly classes: $24 per month
Yearly membership: $247 per year

  • Harvest Flower Cardigan - Jessie Maed Designs - After doing the button band twice - it is finished and I love it!  I am no longer afraid of steeking!  Not even long floats bothered this effort!  Remember - you don’t have to steak this pull over - was just my choice.  My suggestion would be to choose a larger size, watch your gauge and make less underarm stitches if it is too large on the bottom to adjust for the color work.  Try it on early and often to see if you need to adjust anywhere!  But - if you want a cardigan - or your yolk rides up a bit - you can always steek! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/harvest-flower-sweater

  • Friday Tee - Petite Knit - I LOVE THIS SWEATER!  I’m going to wear it today!  The broken rib makes an already squishy DK just lovely.  Normally short sleeved, but DK is more of a winter thing for us so I added sleeves! Might be nice in Line next year for summer :). https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/friday-tee-

  • Cozy Cub Mittens -  Tammy Lajeunesse - If I knew mittens were so fast I would have done them long ago.  So fun, so easy!  The Fleck Bulky is so soft and lovely, I may need a sweater out of that - in pink of course! The Flette Bulky makes a lovely furry top! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cozy-cub-mittens

Patterns of Interest
Clog Socks - New Summer Lee Pattern , Very nice DK socks for the Berkies. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/clog-socks-4
WoodlandLoafers - Claire Slade - Cute slippers without the scary felting :).
Lumme Pullover - Sari Nordlund - I have been wanting to do this one… Might have to do it in non-traditional colors - maybe purple https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lumme-pullover
Virginia Jacket - Another unique Aegyoknits pattern.  Not sure if I love it, but it’s interesting!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/virginia-jacket
Deer and Matrjoschka Mittens - Elenor Mortensen - So beautiful.  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/deer-and-matrjoschka-mittens
Air Sweater - Ozetta - not usually a bulky girl, but I love this sweater!  I would do this in the new Fleck Bulky.  It is easy on the hands and airy so it won’t be too hot.  I’m seriously considering this one! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/air-sweater-3
Last Minute Christmas Knitting

Stockinette Mitts - These look cute, quick and fun! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/stockinette-mitts-2
Whimsical Christmas Socks -Not necessarily quick - but super cute for those color work masters! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/a-whimsical-christmas-sock-set
‘Twas the Night before Christmas Elf Hat - More like a Santa hat to me - but it looks great!  Super quick and easy crochet! I bet you could do this in an afternoon! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/twas-the-night-before-christmas-elf-hat
Gnoel Gnome - I had to put a Gnome in.  This one is super colorful and I think it would be great in the West Yorkshire Spinners Morris! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gnoel-gnome
December Bow - what a cute present pattern.  Simple and quick and you know the right person who will wear it!  I’d use Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino for this one!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/december-bow
Weekend Headband - this is the present for any woman.  I think this is perfect for those who are a little behind in Christmas knitting .  Super fast, easy and functional!  I’d use Woolfolk Flette (for a super soft headband), Meadow Mountain Laramie, or La Bien Aimee Wesley Worsted for this one.  You can get more than one out of a skein! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/weekend-headband

Wrap up
This is a wrap for 2025!  This will be the last newsletter for the year.  Jenna, Val and I are taking a much needed break until January.  I will put out a new newsletter on January 4.  Remember the store in the Outer Banks is closed from December 25 through January 4 for a much needed vacation! The website will remain open and shipping!  If you are local to the Outerbanks and have a knitting emergency - order online and choose local pickup and we can arrange for you to get what you need!
We wish you all Merry Christmas and happy holidays!  Hope you have lots of fun with family and friends - and hope you get some good makings in!
Keep up to date on www.peacefulmaking.com , Instagram, and Facebook!  New classes, schedules, products, and other information.  Reach out by text or phone or messenger!  Peaceful making all!  Look forward to seeing you all this week!
