Peaceful Making Happenings
Christmas is right around the corner and we have been busy as elves coming up with new Christmas gift ideas!  We had a fun week with our special guest Stephen Mark, new fun skills, and lots of new fun things to play with.
Quick reminder the brick and mortar store will be closed for the week after Christmas.  From December 25 - January 2.  Our website will be open and if you need something locally during that period, please choose local pick up when you order and we will arrange a pick up time.
Community
Being in the season of giving,  I am putting the community section at the top of the page and the top of our mind!  We  will be sharing our holiday season joy in many ways. Check out our new  philanthropic  page on the website.  It is important to us to continue supporting those in need and our local community.  If you have ideas of how we can give back to our community, let us know.  Thanks to everyone for making this all possible.
We will continue to have our boxes for Room at the Inn, Beach Food Pantry and will be delivering the contents for Christmas this week.  If you are coming in, consider bringing a small donation of shelf stable food, clothing, or blankets for the donation boxes.  Thank you to everyone who has already contributed!
We will be delivering Hats for Harbor Springs this week. Thanks to all who helped with this project.
Peaceful Making has joined Farmer’s Daughter Fibers in supporting Sisters United to empower indigenous women, children and their communities through donations, education and community support.  If you would like to learn more, or support Sisters United visit https://sistersunitedmt.org/ . Sisters United is a 501c3 charitable organization, so your donations are tax deductible.
New Things in the Store Week

We welcomed Stephen Mark into the store this week.  Stephen is an expert in all things making machines!  He took a pile of equipment and parts and was able to put our knitting machines back together after a long period in storage!  He also helped us get cranking on our new sock machines.  We have a Dean and Bean 3D printed machine and an Erlbacher.  We are loving making tubes and full socks on the machines.  Many thanks to Stephen for the help and training!

We are going to start an Open Sew session on Sundays from 1-4 starting the first Sunday of January.  This is much like making night, but for sewing.  This is not intended to replace classes, but is more an opportunity for everyone to get together and sew together.  Bring your own machine, supplies and projects and sew!  Carol Gibson-Weik will be the host of this Sew Along time!  Thank you Carol for leading this event!
We got a large shipment of hot water bottles for anyone who would like to do a cover.  Let me know and I’ll help you pick out the pattern, yarn and teach you the Jenny’s cast on to get at this cool gift pick!

Weaving and Spinning
We continue to hold Open Spin on Thursday and this is really taking off.  We had a great group this week and I am proud to say I have 2 hanks of beautiful hand spun yarn!  I want to make 2 or 3 more so I can make a sweater!  It is a wonderful group and the spinning is fun.

Rosie Mittens - Le Knit - Ok - these are cute.  May have to do these too :).  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rosie-mittens-2
Kolorblok -JUSTYNA KNITS  - for those who have purchased an Advent box - this is a great mini collection pattern.   https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kolorblok
The Incredible Blanket - Purl Soho - I like this one too for an advent box of minis :).  Oh too many choices! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-incredible-blanket
Juice Sweater - Veronica Lindberg - I have been wondering what I am going to do with the  Oh So Fine Souffle - well it’s definitely the Juice Sweater! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/juice-sweater
Midnight Drive - Melanie Berg - oh the collar on this one is beautiful I would do this in La Bien Aimee Corey Worsted! Lovely! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/midnight-drive
Eun Sweater - November Knits - I knit this a few years ago and I wore it yesterday and so many people asked what pattern it was.  It is an easy knit and just lovely!  I did mine in Nutiden (if you are into that journey let me know and I will show you my stash), but in reality any DK held with a beautiful mohair - like La Bien Aimee DK and mohair or Suri or Camilla Fibers DK and Suri would be beautiful!   https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/eun-sweater
Seal -2  - Woolfolk - Love this lovely long sweater.  Just might have to do this one!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/skal-2

Gnoel Gnome - I had to put a Gnome in.  This one is super colorful and I think it would be great in the West Yorkshire Spinners Morris! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gnoel-gnome
December Bow - what a cute present pattern.  Simple and quick and you know the right person who will wear it!  I’d use Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino for this one!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/december-bow
Weekend Headband - this is the present for any woman.  I think this is perfect for those who are a little behind in Christmas knitting .  Super fast, easy and functional!  I’d use Woolfolk Flette (for a super soft headband), Meadow Mountain Laramie, or La Bien Aimee Wesley Worsted for this one.  You can get more than one out of a skein! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/weekend-headband
