Peaceful Happening
It has been a busy week of making.  I did a lot of spinning and knitting getting ready for NYC Vogue Knitting Live.  I am so excited!  Looking forward to seeing all the famous making-peeps, friends and of course - HAMILTON!  I know by Monday I will be ready to be home!  We will still have all the Making Times and classes while we are gone - so come on in and enjoy the making!

Join us for the Hibernal Sock Knit-a-long and the Dagmar Knit-a-long.  There are a group of us who are knitting the Hibernal Sock by Summer Lee.  There is a DK and a Fingering pattern.  It is a super easy - but very beautiful pattern sock.
The Dagmar Knit-a-Long is launching in February! Keep an eye on the Discord Channel and the newsletter for more information very soon!
Weaving and Spinning
Weaving and Spinning Classes will be held on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Classes will include Tapestry, Rigid Heddle, Floor Loom, Introduction to Weaving, and Fiber Management. Check out our calendar for our current class list and if you need help picking one or don't see the one you want, then send us an email at weaving@peacefulmaking.com
Upcoming Trips
Linda Sears and I will be heading to “Vogue Knitting Live” and “A Time to Remember” in New York City January 29 - February 1.  We are very excited to be going to these events for the first time.  We will be meeting Isabell Kraemer, Andrea Mowry, Patty Lyons, Aime Gille, and more.  We are sneaking in some NYC fun as well and seeing Hamilton!  We’ll have a full report and post lots while we are away!
Classes and New Events
We have been looking at the way we have been scheduling classes and how we are posting them on the website and realized it was a bit confusing. We have updated the way we are posting them with the option of purchasing single classes, a month subscription, or a yearly subscription for the classes and we are looking forward to seeing you all at a class soon!
The classes and other events are on this calendar https://peacefulmaking.com/pages/calendar?_pos=1&_psq=calendar&_ss=e&_v=1.0.
The knitting classes are twice a week.  Thursday at 6:30 is a Skill’s Tune Up class.  You will need to already know how to knit for this class.  It will be an hour to learn or sharpen a skill.
We will also have a beginners class on Sundays from 1- 3.  We will have a series of classes that will move the student to becoming a knitter. Check out the calendar! Classes can be purchased individually by the hour,  by the month or a yearly membership that includes all events, classes, and equipment used in the store for a year.  Here is the price schedule:
Individual classes by the hour:  $10 per hour.
Monthly classes: $24 per month ( one month of unlimited classes in a specific craft)
Yearly membership: $247 per year (one year of unlimited classes all crafts included

  • Holiday Pull Over - by Petit Knit in my handspun from Hedgehog Fibers Tweedy Spinning Fiber,  Pot Luck Spinning fiber, held double with Oh So Fine Souffle - what a wonderful little vest pattern.  I searched high and low for a pattern for the amount and weight of my handspun.  I was so happy to have it come out in at about a DK weight.  I was less happy about the fact that it was not spun enough in areas - so to secure it I put it together with Oh So Fine Souffle to make it a bulky weight.  I love how it came out! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/holiday-slipover

  • Winters Pullover/Baaba Dupe - Ozetta and Sara Elysabethe - Knitting For Olive Heavy Merino held double with silk mohair - I love how this came out!  It is very beautiful.  It looks just like a Baaba.  I made a change to the sleeves because I have short arms.  I stopped the decreases when they were the right length for me and I did a row of knit two together to get it to the correct number of stitches for the cuff.  I will say - I think it looks even more authentic because the bottom of the sleeve balloons a bit.  I am so excited to wear it in NYC!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/winters-pullover ozetta winters pullover companion.pdf
WIP’s
  • Lumme Pullover - Sari Nordlund - I cast this on and as usually this Nutiden project is going to be a little finicky - the yarn is soft and lovely and yes it is breaking a lot.  I’m going to take my time and enjoy this process of love!  Anyone want to try a Nutiden project? Let me know - I do have a large stash! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lumme-pullover

Patterns of Interest
Aebleblomst - Clara Eggers - Love this simple color work and I love these colors!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bleblomst--apple-flower
Tain - Rebecca Clow - Rebecca has done it again.  Beautiful pattern, lovely continuing raglan.  Definitely on my list!   https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tain
The Celeste Sweater - Petite Knit - There are a few lovely geometric yolks that are very similar - this one is the one I like the most because you never hold more than two colors at a time.  All the others are three stranded.  Looks like a winner!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/celeste-sweater-4
Moon Set Polo - Ozetta - I am hooked on Ozetta.  I love how she writes her patterns.  Love the collar on this one!   https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/moon-set-polo
Sabai Sweater - Susanne Muller - Many of us did the Sabai sleeveless last summer.  As spring is almost here (wishful thinking) -  This looks like a great in between seasons knit!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sabai-sweater
My Favorite YouTube
Recipes
Instapot Spaghetti and Meat Sauce
This is my favorite easy meal - simple and it tastes like leftover spaghetti because the noods absorb the sauce!
Ingredients
  • Ground beef or sausage or both - 1lb or 2 for meaty spaghetti
  • Salt
  • Garlic - fresh or powder
  • 24 oz jar of spaghetti sauce
  • 14.5 oz jar of tomatoes - smashed
  • 36 oz of water
  • 1 lb spaghetti noodles
  • ½- 1 cup parmesan cheese
Brown the meat with salt using the Saute feature..  If using fresh garlic, cook it with the meat. Add all the other ingredients, breaking the spaghetti noodles in half (yes this is a mortal sin - but worth it). Seal the Instant pot and set it to high pressure for 8 minutes.  Release immediately - add cheese - enjoy!
